American Horror Story fans can rejoice as FX finally gave the spin-off the green light.

That’s right, while season 10 of the original series gets underway, producer Ryan Murphy has been quietly expanding the franchise – all while dropping The Politician and new release Hollywood onto Netflix

And now it looks as though he has a whole new project on his hands, as American Horror Stories will continue the fright fest in weekly hour-long episodes.

Doing exactly what it says on the tin, each instalment will be a self-contained horror story for viewers to get their teeth into.

The creator first revealed his plans when sharing a picture of a video call he had with the cast over Zoom.

In the caption, the 54-year-old wrote: ‘American Horror Story cast Zoom call… Where we reminisced about the good times.’

He went onto say how they discussed ‘the spin off we’re doing called American Horror Stories (one hour contained episodes)… When we will start filming the next season of the mothership… And other stuff I cannot print.’

The then star rounded up his post with: ‘It was so much fun and I’m glad we caught up. I miss everyone!’

It’s unknown who will be appearing in the upcoming show, however, fans have spotted that drag queen Willam commented: ‘America Horror Stories sounds fun. See you there.’

But, until then, we have the upcoming season 10 to look forward too – and Ryan is hoping the cast can return to filming this summer – when the coronavirus crisis is over.

On his Instagram page, he shared the quote: ‘Does anyone know when we all get our paychecks for being on this season of American Horror Story?’

The director accompanied this with the message: ‘I’m so sorry. I’ll be sending those out this week IF in the comments section you guess what the new season of American Horror Story is about (which we hope to start shooting later this summer).

‘The winner takes it all.’

American Horror Story is available to stream on Netflix now.
