Protesters are involved in scuffles with Gardaí at the scene of an attack where three children were injured.

The crime scene in Parnell Square, Dublin is still in lockdown after three children, aged between five and six, were stabbed near a school in the north inner city.

The knife attack took place outside Irish-speaking school Gaelscoil Coláiste Mhuire as children were leaving around 1.40pm.

Five people have been taken to various hospitals in the Dublin region, an Garda Síochána, Ireland’s police force, have said.

A public order unit has been deployed in the area, as crowds of protesters gather and bottles have been thrown at officers.

Flares have been set off and a gardaí car has been set on fire by what the Irish Gardaí commissioner calls a ‘complete lunatic faction driven by far-right ideology’.
