Israel-Hamas war live: Israel accuses Hamas of ‘hiding and murdering hostages’ at hospital
ISRAEL has released video of a tunnel it claims was under the Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City. IDF forces reached the complex last week and displayed weapons it had found there but there appeared to be no tunnels. Israel has long claimed the hospital is a command complex for terror group Hamas with a network of tunnels deep underground used for ammunition storage and planning. The tunnel found was said to be 55 metres long and 10 metres underneath the hospital which has been the centre of military operations for almost a week. The Israeli military has accused Hamas of committing war crimes inside Gaza’s main hospital.

Speaking at a news conference, IDF spokesperson Daniel Hagari said: ‘Hamas was hiding and murdering our hostages in Shifa hospital.’

Earlier, the IDF published a video which it claims shows a ‘very sophisticated’ Hamas tunnel underneath the hospital complex.

A deal to release dozens of hostages captured by Hamas during its attack on Israel last month is ‘close’ to being reached, Qatar’s prime minister has said.

Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani said the main sticking points were now ‘very minor’ and mainly practical and logistical issues.

Israel’s ambassador to the United States, Michael Herzog, echoed the optimism, telling broadcasters in the US they are hopeful a significant number could be released ‘in the coming days’.

While fighting rages on in Gaza, health officials said 31 ‘very sick’ premature babies were safely moved from al Shifa hospital and will later go to Egypt.

Meanwhile, Gaza’s Hamas-run government said at least 13,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli bombardments since the October 7 attacks, including at least 5,500 children.
