Marcus Rashford and Harry Maguire fit but Casemiro injury is serious, confirms Erik ten Hag
The Red Devils go to Denmark on Wednesday night.
Marcus Rashford and Harry Maguire are both fit to play for Manchester United at FC Copenhagen on Wednesday night in the Champions League, confirms Erik ten Hag, but Casemio may not return before Christmas.
Rashford missed the 1-0 win over Fulham on Saturday due to a ‘small knock’ but is available to play in midweek in Denmark.
Maguire played the full match in west London, but did take a blow to the head during the game and went through the concussion protocols at the time.
The England defender has not shown any adverse reaction since the Premier League win and is likely to play again in the Champions League.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Ten Hag said of Maguire: ‘So we did all the protocols during the game, after the game so he’s ready to play.
‘He was fine in the game so no problems. he played a very good game.
‘Rashy missed one game out, small knock, but he’s back. 100 per cent.’
United’s long-term injury problems persist, though, with Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia, Luke Shaw, Amad Diallo and Casemiro all out and Jadon Sancho unavailable for disciplinary reasons.
‘I have some time schedules, but it’s always difficult to expect that because they can have setbacks during rehab periods,’ Ten Hag said of his injured players.
‘Martinez and Casemiro are really strong injuries, I don’t expect them back before Christmas.’
Ten Hag said injury problems have cost his team so far this season as they have struggled for consistency of selection, and consistency of results.
‘By getting more to our best 11 and getting routines in the team,’ he said of managing to return to form. ‘So far, we’ve had to change a lot. The midfield balance is als not there. I’m sure once we get there, we’ll play better.’
