Piers Morgan’s family is just as interesting as he is (Picture: Instagram @piersmorgan)
Piers Morgan might spend his days dividing the nation with his opinions, but the controversial journalist has turned a lot of critics’ views around with the way he’s held the government to account during the coronavirus pandemic.
He might be the most famous member of his family for his ability to probe guests on all the tough questions, but it turns out the rest of his family are pretty fascinating, too.
They may not spend any time in front of the cameras, but Piers has shared some interesting anecdotes about the rest of his family over the years, including his kids, his parents and his brothers.
Piers has three sons from his first marriage to Marion Shalloe – Spencer, 26, Stanley, 22, and 19-year-old Albert, known as Bertie, as well as an eight-year-old daughter Elise with his second wife Celia Walden.
Here’s what they all get up to behind the scenes.
Piers’ eldest son Spencer has followed in his dad’s footsteps by pursuing a career in journalism, albeit focusing on sports rather than politics like Piers.
Much like his dad, Spencer has also got a host of celebrity connections, regularly sharing photos of himself with the stars he has met, including everyone from Made in Chelsea’s Georgia Toffolo to actual Beyonce.
Spencer also shares lots of pictures of his exotic holidays (remember when we could travel, pre-coronavirus?) which even made it onto the Rich Kids of Instagram account.
Stanley is a budding actor (Picture: Instagram)
Piers’s middle son, Stanley, has trained to be an actor but almost ended up in the Love Island villa last year.
However, it looks like any hopes of seeing Stanley on a future series of Love Island aren’t going to materialise as Piers has threatened his sons’ inheritance if any of them went on the show.
Addressing the rumours, Piers said: ‘My sons get regularly approached for these shows but they know I’ll write them out of the will if they go on.’
While Stanley hasn’t been able to dive into his acting career as soon as he hoped due to everything shutting down amid the pandemic, he has been spending his time working on his photography and filmmaking skills instead.
Bertie Morgan is currently at university (Picture: Instagram)
Piers’ youngest son Bertie is currently studying for a degree at Bristol University, where he has been keeping up with his course with online lectures.
He had also experienced symptoms of coronavirus in April, with Piers revealing: ‘One of my sons had it in a much milder way. He lost his taste and smell. and still hasn’t got it back.
‘Yeah my youngest boy had it. He had that taste and smell thing that I think now most people are associating with the virus. It’s a very unnerving thing to get.’
Little Elise is the sass queen (Picture: Instagram)
Piers’ only daughter, Elise, definitely got his no-nonsense streak as she likes to give her dad some serious sass.
The eight-year-old even gets up early to watch her dad on Good Morning Britain – mainly so she can take the mickey out of him.
He read out an email she had sent him while he was on air, telling the audience: ‘I just want to say good morning to my daughter Elise who’s taken to emailing me as she watches the show.
‘[She said] “Hi Dadda. I’m so tired. You look so bad but I guess I love you in some ways.”
‘You know what Elise, you know what? You just waking up to tell me how bad I look every morning is not good.’
This one’s definitely going to go far with that cheeky side!
Proof there is one person on earth that Piers won’t row with (Picture: Instagram)
Piers might argue with every guest he has on, but one person that he never gets into heated debates with is his wife, Celia.
The couple married in 2010, and Piers claimed the couple have only rowed a handful of times since.
He explained: ‘We don’t really argue. Because I spend all day shouting at people so I get home and I can’t be bothered.
‘Yes, seriously. In 15 years I can count on three fingers the amount of proper arguments. I just can’t be bothered.
‘Once that door’s shut, give me a glass of wine, I’m easily pleased. And also I’m always right, she’s just accepted that. I don’t want all that frenzy.’
Jeremy and Rupert Pughe-Morgan

Piers has two brothers, Jeremy and Rupert, who’ve occasionally ended up embroiled in a celebrity spat on their brother’s behalf.
While Rupert seems to keep himself to himself, army officer Jeremy has had a to and fro with Lord Alan Sugar on social media in the past.
When Lord Sugar criticised Piers’ handling of government ministers on GMB, Jeremy took him down with a cutting blow.
He tweeted: ‘I started following this illiterate old clown after he started following me, but I really can’t take any more of his moronic diatribe.
‘Goodbye @Lord_Sugar, you really are a staggeringly stupid, ignorant and unpleasant little man.’
Parents Glynne and Gabrielle Pugh-Morgan
Piers got his straight-talking nature from his mama (Picture: Instagram @piersmorgan)
Piers’ biological dad, Vincent O’Meara, was an Irish dentist who tragically passed away when Piers was just 11 months old, so he refers to his stepdad Glynne Pughe-Morgan as his ‘dad’, and even took his surname.
The journalist clearly got his boldness from his mama, Gabrielle, as even she took on Lord Sugar in order to defend her son.
When Lord Sugar called Piers an ‘utter disgrace’, she hit back, saying: ‘I am the proudest Mum in the world.

‘The only Journalist doing his job, as you will find out at the end of all this.’
Glynne also hit the headlines recently when Piers shared a photo of him for his birthday and fans couldn’t believe how young he looked.
