The Office won’t be reuniting anytime soon, sorry (Picture: NBC)
The Office creator Greg Daniels has explained why the iconic US sitcom will not be coming back anytime soon.
An adaption of Ricky Gervais’ original UK series, the show follows the lives of people working for Dunder Mifflin Paper Company.
Daniels has reunited with series star Steve Carell for a new Netflix workspace comedy, Space Force, but he also revealed why he’s hesitant to revive his greatest hit.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Daniels said: ‘I love doing The Office more than anything and if we were going to revisit it, I would want to do it.
‘I think when all these [revival] rumours started to fly around, it was when they rebooted Will and Grace, and I think people were assuming that an Office reboot would be pretty much like that – it would be getting the entire cast back together and just continuing where we left off.’
He continued: ‘But you know, I went back to run the show in season 9 after discussing it with the main cast and part of our idea was we were gonna wrap it up, you know, we were gonna write towards the finale and have an ending, and so a lot of the characters left the office and we went forward by a year, we found out where everybody was.’
He also admitted that getting the entire cast back would be pretty ‘unrealistic’ since a lot of the cast – cough cough, John Krasinski, have turned into massive stars.

Speaking of John Krasinski, the Quiet Place star has also admitted that ‘he would love’ to be involved in a reunion.
‘The Office was absolutely everything to me,’ he told Esquire.
‘I mean it is my beginning and my end. I’m pretty sure at the end of my career I’ll still be known for Jim. That was my first experience with Hollywood. It was the first creative family I’ve ever had.
