The Walking Dead’s Carol (Melissa McBride) is said to be joining Andrew Lincoln in his upcoming Rick Grimes movies.

It’s rumoured that Danai Gurira, Cailey Fleming, Jon Bernthal and Norman Reedus are all going to join the hero in the long awaited trilogy.

And it looks as though the original castmate will also be getting on board, according to We Got This Covered.

Sources have told the publication that Carol is set to appear in at least one of the movies, which currently have no theatrical release date.

They claimed: ‘We can’t narrow down which of the three she’ll show up in yet, but she will be in at least one of them.’

The speculation comes after producer Greg Nicotero delivered an update on the projects after more and more countries were forced into lockdown by the current coronavirus outbreak.

He told SyFy Wire: ‘From what I understand from Mr. Gimple, the script is well underway. I’ve looked at a couple of early drafts, but I haven’t seen anything lately, but from what I understand they’re digging away at it.

‘One thing about this kind of situation is people that work at home… You know, writers… They’re able to take advantage of this time, and it’s a good time.’

Greg added: ‘There’s going to be a lot of material that’s going to be ready to go, because everyone’s getting scripts, and getting stuff just right to the point where they can get it ready before you start shooting.’

Rick Grimes’ future doesn’t look too good if the comics are anything to go by (Picture: AMC)

The cast and crew alike are keep details surrounding the Rick Grimes movies close to their chest – however, if the comic books are anything to go by, things don’t look good for the sheriff.

Creator Robert Kirkman decided to kill off Rick by seeing character Sebastian Milton shoot him in the stomach. The protagonist then came back to life as a zombie before his son Carl put him to rest.

Defending his decision, the writer told Comicbook.com: ‘Rick Grimes fixed the world to the point where he was so safe that he could be killed by the weakest character in the book.

‘It’s a statement on how good of a job he did. At no point in the history of the comic could he have been killed that way.

‘It wasn’t until the very end that he was able to relax.’

The Walking Dead’s season 10 finale is set to drop on AMC and NOWTV later this year.
