A child playing in the backyard of his house has died 12 days after being shot in the head by a stray bullet.

Tugrul Firat Gokalp, 6, who was playing in his backyard in the Sahinbey district of Gaziantep province in southeastern Turkey, on 29th October, suddenly collapsed.

Noticing the little child falling to the ground and blood flowing from his head, his family immediately called emergency services, and medics who turned up at the scene found that Tugrul Firat had been hit by a bullet in the head.

After the initial intervention at the scene, Tugrul was transferred to a private hospital.

Despite the efforts of medics, it has now been revealed that the little lad died after a 12-day battle to survive.

After completing the procedures at the Gaziantep Forensic Medicine Institute, the lifeless body of the child was handed over to his family to be buried.

It was reported that the investigation into the incident is ongoing, and efforts are underway to apprehend the suspect or suspects.
