BTS reveal their track Outro: Tear was inspired by talks of disbanding and fans can’t handle it (Picture: WireImage)
BTS have revealed that their track Outro: Tear released back in 2018 was inspired by talks they had about disbanding.
Say it isn’t so?!
During the latest episode of their Break The Silence docu-series, the K-pop boyband – made up of Jimin, Suga, RM, J-Hope, V, Jungkook and Jin – were seen discussing the idea of retirement and the seven-piece eventually disbanding.
Like the rest of the BTS army, we can’t bear to think about it, but turns out, that conversation became almost too real two years ago.
Explaining that 2018 saw the band struggle with the pressure and stress of fame, Jin says: ‘We had a hard time mentally… while talking with each other, we even thought about disbanding.’
Outro: Tear is the final track on BTS’ album, Love Yourself: Tear, performed by RM, Suga and J-Hope.
Suga explains that the song was actually inspired by the possibility of the band splitting up and going their separate ways.
‘The lyrics for “Tear” were written for the members. When I was writing the melody, at the time, we were deeply contemplating whether we should quit or not.
‘When I played the song for the members, we all cried together,’ Suga says, according to Korea Boo.

My heart always felt heavy listening to tear but I always brushed it off. I’m the type of person to see many perspectives..to me there was a deeper meaning but I never expected it to be about our angels disbanding. Another song to move to my crying playlist. We love you @BTS_twt

Fans of BTS were quick to react on Twitter, with many claiming they’ll never be able to hear the song in the same way – now they know what it really means.
One fan tweeted: ‘Will never be able listen to tear the same way i did before.’
Another agreed: ‘tear is one of my all time favorite bts tracks and now its got a whole new meaning to it like i didn’t think it could make me any more emotional but here we are.’
Things got all emotional as one fan penned: ‘My heart always felt heavy listening to tear but I always brushed it off. I’m the type of person to see many perspectives… to me there was a deeper meaning but I never expected it to be about our angels disbanding. Another song to move to my crying playlist. We love you @BTS_twt.’

It comes as BTS has been forced to cancel its Map of the Soul world tour this year due to the coronavirus pandemic and it’s been claimed the band could lose up to £200million as a result.
But, the BTS boys are still breaking records even in lockdown, with Jungkook recently becoming the longest-charting solo K-pop artist on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart with his solo track Euphoria.
Euphoria racked up an impressive 26 weeks. Some feat, eh.
