Casemiro ‘regrets’ his move to Man Utd as club line up £61m replacement
His time at Man Utd could be 'short-lived'.
The Brazil international arrived at Old Trafford in the summer of 2022 and massively impressed in his first season under Erik ten Hag.
But Casemiro, who missed Saturday’s win over Sheffield United and will not face Copenhagen in the Champions League on Tuesday, has struggled this term.
Opposition managers have been deliberately targeting the 31-year-old while former United coach Rene Meulensteen believes Casemiro ‘can’t handle’ the style of play Ten Hag is trying to implement at the club.
Louis Saha feels United are ‘asking too much’ of Casemiro while Sir Jim Ratcliffe thinks the club made a ‘mistake’ by signing him last year.
According to Catalonian outlet Nacional, it has now emerged that Casemiro ‘regrets’ his move from Real Madrid to United.
It is understood that his time at United could be ‘short-lived’ with the midfielder concerned over ‘institutional instability’ at the club.
United are thought to be ‘not happy with’ Casemiro and the club are interested in signing Joao Neves from Benfica as a replacement.
United have already assessed Neves and have learned that they will have to pay a minimum of €70m (£61m) to bring in the Portugal international.
Neves, who is just 19-years-old, came through Benfica’s academy and has made 32 appearances for the Portuguese club to date.
