Chelsea eye move for towering 6ft 6in Charlton Athletic striker who rejected Bundesliga switch
Brentford have also been linked.
Chelsea are eying up a move for Charlton Athletic striker Miles Leaburn in the January transfer window, according to reports.
The 19-year-old, who is 6ft 6in tall, has registered seven goal involvements across 10 games this season for the League One side across all competitions.
Leaburn’s impressive form at such a young age has alerted top clubs and Chelsea face a battle with fellow Premier League side Brentford if they wish to sign the Englishman, according to the Daily Mail.
It is not the first time Leaburn has been linked with a move away with Aston Villa thought to be previously interested towards the end of last season.
Charlton also rejected a bid worth over £3m from an unnamed club in the Bundesliga in the summer.
Leaburn is a player Chelsea know well given that he used to be in the academy at Stamford Bridge before he left to join Charlton four years ago.
Chelsea’s interest in Leaburn comes after co-owner Todd Boehly handed head coach Mauricio Pochettino ‘greater transfer influence’ this week.
The Argentine is keen to bring in a new striker – with Ivan Toney thought to be the No.1 target – amid reports that he remains unconvinced over Nicolas Jackson and Armando Broja.
Chelsea have history in raiding League One side Charlton, poaching Mason Burstow from them in 2022.
Charlton are 13th in the third tier of English football after their opening 13 games of the season, winning five and losing five while registering three draws.
