Cristiano Ronaldo gives Francis Ngannou incredible £87,000 gift ahead of Tyson Fury showdown
The UFC legend was pictured beaming as he was handed the Jacob and Co watch, which hails from the company’s limited edition ‘Heart of CR7’ line.
The watch came complete with a black box which featured ‘CR7 Cristiano Ronaldo’ displayed on the inside cover.
Taking to Instagram to express his delight, Ngannou said: ‘Got to pick up my watch ahead of fight week here in Riyadh.
‘Thank you @jacobandco Riyadh and my brother @cristiano!’
The pair had actually met in the Saudi Arabian capital Riyadh – the scene of this weekend’s fight – back in January after Ngannou had been released from his UFC contract having failed to agree a new deal.
The French-Cameroonian flew out to link up with Ronaldo who, of course, was already in Saudi Arabia having completed his move to Al-Nassr in December following his release from Manchester United.
Basking in his delight, Ngannou, who is being coached by Mike Tyson, wrote on Instagram: ‘Great talking with the [goat emoji] in Riyadh today. Very inspirational! @cristiano’
Ronaldo added: ‘Great to catch up with world champion @francisngannou today!’
To which Ngannou replied: ‘Great chatting with you and thank you for your kind words. very inspirational!
The Portuguese star is certainly no stranger to the world of combat sports, having previously admitted he prefers watching boxing to football.
‘Playing football is my passion, but I prefer watching other sports on TV,’ Ronaldo said back in 2020.
‘Between watching a football match or a boxing or UFC fight, I choose boxing or UFC.’
‘I don’t think I could have been a boxer, it’s tough. You have to be born for that, with that gift.
‘I think I was born to be a professional footballer, I thought I had that gift from the beginning, and I said to myself: “I’m going to grab this opportunity with my hands”.
‘When I was at Manchester United, a coach boxed with me. I think practicing boxing is useful for football because it sharpens your senses and you learn to move.’
Ngannou’s fight with Fury, which will be his first ever professional boxing bout, is set to get underway at around 10.40pm UK time this Saturday (October 28).
