Ange Postecoglou has played down the severity of injuries to Destiny Udogie and Pape Matar Sarr after Tottenham’s 2-0 win over Fulham on Monday evening.

Son Heung-min put Spurs in front in the 36th minute before James Maddison doubled their lead nine minutes after half time.

Udogie, who has been one of the standout performers on Spurs’ left wing this season, was replaced by Emerson Royal two minutes after Maddison’s goal.

Sarr, meanwhile, was also unable to complete the game as he was substituted for Oliver Skipp in the 62nd minute.

Postecoglou revealed after the match that Sarr had been suffering from an illness in the build up to his side’s win over Fulham.

The Spurs manager also confirmed that Udogie had complained of ‘tiredness’ during the half-time break and was substituted early in the second half as a precaution.

‘Pape hadn’t been well over the last 24 hours,’ Postecoglou said after Spurs’ win.

‘But he was really keen to start tonight, we kind of knew probably 60 minutes would be his maximum.

‘It was just fatigue in the end, short turnaround but the medical team seemed to be pretty confident that he’ll be fine.

‘Destiny just felt a bit of tiredness at half time.

‘We said we’d give it 10, 15 minutes. Again, short turnaround, once we got the second goal it made sense to take him off.’
