Piers Morgan isn’t leaving GMB, don’t worry (Picture: ITV)
Even though the man is only taking a week off to rest his weary voicebox and enjoy the imaginary half-term break, after spending a couple hours each morning passionately waxing lyrical on a whole bunch of issues, viewers of the morning programme feared they’d lost the 55-year-old from screens.
While he’s never hinted he wouldn’t be coming back – and, honestly, do you think anyone would say it before the man himself? – it caused punters to get all kinds of up in arms over the idea of his departure.
One noted on Twitter after it was announced he’d take a break: ‘Piers you are the only person that ask the question that the government need to address you say what needs to be said. I only watch GMB when you are on please say and keep up the good work.’
Another wrote on Twitter: ‘Added I really hope this is not true, we need you Piers! Noone has spoken up for us like you have. You’re amazing and appreciated so much!’
And of course he had many who were volunteering to help pack up his desk…

They’ll be quite disappointed today however as the host reacted to a news article pointing out his worried fans feared he was on the way out of the studio for good.
Without sharing any more information whatsoever, he simply wrote: ‘Relax, I’m not.’
The response of viewers to this news was no less divisive, with his fans praising the sweet lord Richard Arnold that Piers would be back.
One joked (we think): ‘They should have cancelled your leave this week! We need you at your post.’
However, he still had his detractors, with one not mincing their words and replying: ‘Shame ,GMB been good without you. (sic)’
Last week the journalist said he, co-host Susanna Reid and Dr Hilary Jones were taking a wee holiday to recuperate following some in-depth coverage of the coronavirus pandemic as of late and some holding-to-account of MPs.
What may be worrying viewers, was his rather ambiguous phrasing as he said: ‘Today could be our last day. You never know do you? These days.
‘It’s weird to have half term off when there’s no half term. We’re sort of having half term off from this.
