Dublin stabbing – live: Violent protests in Parnell Square after three children injured

Protesters have been involved in scuffles with Gardaí at the scene of an attack where three children were injured.

The scene in Dublin is still in lockdown after three children, aged between five and six, were stabbed near a school in the north inner city.

The knife attack took place outside Irish-speaking school Gaelscoil Coláiste Mhuire as children were leaving around 1.40pm.

Five people have been taken to various hospitals in the Dublin region, an Garda Síochána, Ireland’s police force, have said.

A public order unit has been deployed in the area, as crowds of protesters gather and bottles have been thrown at officers.
