Flamengo respond to speculation they want to loan struggling Manchester United winger Antony
A swap deal has been suggested.
The Brazil international has endured a difficult start to the season and has failed to score or provide a single assist despite the faith place in him by manager Erik ten Hag.
Antony joined United nearly 18 months ago from Ajax but has failed to live up to his £85million price tag and turned in another disappointing performance against Fulham last weekend.
Reports in Brazil claimed United were interested in the possibility of loaning him to Flamengo with experienced striker Gabriel Barbosa heading in the opposite direction on a temporary basis.
United want to sign a striker in January to ease the burden on Rasmus Hojlund who is without a Premier League goal since his high-profile £72m move from Atalanta in the summer.
Speaking to O Globo, however, Flamengo vice-president Marco Braz insists there is ‘zero chance’ of a swap deal being concluded.
Antony, meanwhile, is preparing to feature for United against FC Copenhagen tonight having been given another ringing endorsement by Ten Hag.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, the Dutchman said: ‘I think he had a really good pre-season.
‘He has to get himself back into form.
‘Hard work, invest and it will come I’m sure.’
