Former Chelsea and Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas lands first managerial job

(Picture: Getty) Former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has landed his first taste of senior football management after taking interim charge of Serie B side Como. The Spaniard finished his career with the Italian club and has since worked as a coach for the under-19 team since his retirement last summer. However, he has now stepped into the interim post following the sacking of former head coach Moreno Longo. The side currently sit sixth and won 1-0 against Ascoli at the weekend but a change has still been made, with the side sitting eight points behind league leaders Parma. Fabregas, who is also a part-owner of the club alongside Thierry Henry, does not appear likely to hold onto the position on a full-time basis, with the club saying their focus is on a ‘search for a new Head Coach.’ ‘We thank Moreno Longo for all his hard work and dedication, especially after coming in following a difficult period last season,’ Mirwan Suwarso, the official representative of the ownership group, added in a public statement. ‘However, we would like to embark on a new path that hopefully will provide more excitement and entertainment for the fans in Como and beyond.
