James Argent jokes Towie 10 year anniversary couldn’t possibly go ahead without him
James Argent has joked that Towie’s 10 year anniversary couldn’t possibly work without him.
After all, he’s like the Louis Walsh of the ITVBe reality series, right?
Arg had been a part of Towie since it first hit screens back in 2011 and became a fan favourite, if not for his bromance with Mark Wright but his relationships with Lydia Bright and Gemma Collins.
That time Arg rocked up to Gemma’s house in nothing but a bow-tie and thong and holding a fish tank – iconic.
It’s fair to say it’s hard to imagine the show without its stalwart and that’s why Arg is convinced a reunion special just wouldn’t work without him.
It’s rumoured that a reunion is on the cards for Towie’s 10th birthday, with plans to bring back the show’s famous faces like original star Mark, Lauren Goodger and Amy Childs.

But speaking to The Sun, Arg joked: ‘I don’t feel like you can have one unless I’m in it, right?’
Speaking of the show, that he featured on until 2018, Arg said he isn’t keen on making a comeback anytime soon: ‘I’m proud to say I was on it from day one, and I feel like it’s my baby, but in terms of coming back and being a full time cast member, I think that chapter in my life has closed.’
Instead, he’s got his sights set on a show like Strictly where he can entertain and perform instead of getting caught up in drama and rowing.

While starring on Towie, Arg was suspended in 2014 after failing a drugs test. He returned to the show in 2015, before quitting for good in 2018 due to his addiction problems.
Arg recently addressed his six-year long battle with cocaine addiction during an appearance on This Morning, where he credited his BFF Mark for helping with his recovery.
The Essex star, who revealed his on/off girlfriend Gemma had to call paramedics when he suffered two overdoses, thanked both Mark and Gemma for showing him ‘tough love’.
Mark has always been there for me through my ups and downs. Alongside Gemma, Mark’s always given me tough love.
‘Throughout December, he was phoning me begging me to go to rehab and get treatment, but wasn’t ready, I didn’t want to go, I didn’t want to stop.

James Argent jokes there just couldn't be a Towie reunion special without him in it
‘Boxing Day, I rung up Mark and I said, “Mark, I can’t do this anymore, every time I relapse, they get worse and worse.” Over December I thought, “Wow, I’m actually close to death.” ‘I knew that if I didn’t sort myself out, I could have potentially died.’
Arg added: ‘I rang up Mark and Mark went out of his way, he got in contact with a rehab in Thailand, he helped me booked my flights, he arranged everything. I’m forever grateful for Mark for that…’
