Louis Theroux regrets not delving deeper into Joe Exotic’s colourful sex life
Way back in 2011, Louis interviewed Joe – real name Joseph Allen Maldonado-Passage – for his BBC documentary America’s Most Dangerous Pets before the zookeeper became the single most talked about man on the planet following the Netflix series, Tiger King.
Louis, however, barely scratched the surface when it comes to Joe.
Since they first met almost a decade ago, the absurdly eccentric big cat owner has run for Governor, married again, and been sentenced for 22 years after he was found guilty of plotting to kill his wild cat farm rival Carole Baskin, shooting five tigers dead and illegally selling rare wild animals.
President Donald Trump is looking into giving him a presidential pardon, Brad Pitt wants to play him in the Joe Exotic movie and Metro.co.uk revealed he’s planning his showbiz domination from a prison cell.
But for Louis, the 49-year-old admitted he should have dug deeper into the 57-year-old’s sex life.

‘I knew him before he was famous,’ Louis began on The Graham Norton Show. ‘ I spent the best part of a week with him for a documentary on dangerous pets in 2011.’
‘If I have any regrets, it’s not talking to him more about his two husbands and his rules of engagement for three-person love making!’
Joe’s first husband John – who claims they never legally married – left the Tiger King for one of the zoo’s female colleagues, before Travis accidentally took his own life.
The man behind hits such as Hey, Kitty, Kitty went on to wed Dillon Passage just two months after the death of his ex and briefly touched on their sex life in Tiger King, boasting he has a Prince Albert (you know) and dangles a padlock from the end of it.
The Graham Norton Show airs tonight at 9pm on BBC One.
