Mikel Arteta is hopeful Bukayo Saka isn’t too badly hurt after the Arsenal star hobbled off the pitch during their Champions League victory on Wednesday night.

Saka played a starring role in Arsenal’s 2-0 victory over Sevilla at the Emirates, assisting Leandro Trossard’s opener before scoring himself.

But toward the end of the game, the winger rolled his ankle upon landing and received treatment on the pitch.

He attempted to carry on but couldn’t, hobbling off in the 85th minute with Jakub Kiwior replacing him.

However, the 22-year-old didn’t go down the tunnel to the treatment room after getting subbed, instead he went straight to the bench before completing a lap of honour after the full-time whistle.

That sight came as much relief to Arsenal fans, as well as England manager Gareth Southgate who was at the Emirates ahead of announcing his squad for the November internationals on Thursday.

And thankfully for them, Arteta has confirmed that his talisman appears to just be suffering from a knock.

Asked about the injury issues, the manager told TNT Sports: ‘Takehiro Tomiyasu was feeling something so we didn’t want to take a risk. Bukayo Saka, it’s a knock.’
