Raphael Varane is fit and available for Manchester United’s trip to Fulham on Saturday, but Victor Lindelof is a doubt due to illness.

The Red Devils confirmed on Friday that Casemiro is set to miss ‘several weeks’ with a hamstring injury he picked up against Newcastle in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.

Manager Erik ten Hag was speaking at a press conference on Friday afternoon and provided some further team news, confirming that Varane is ready to play, but Lindelof may not be involved in the 12.30pm kick-off at Craven Cottage.

‘Varane is ready to play so he will be travelling with the squad,’ said the Dutchman.

Victor Lindelof some illness, we have to see if he is ready for tomorrow.’

Varane was on the bench for United’s 3-0 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday, with Ten Hag saying that was due to tactical reasons, but the Frenchman missed the loss to Newcastle by the same scoreline on Wednesday all together, having suffered with illness himself.

After back-to-back 3-0 home defeats, Ten Hag is desperate to turn things around, and he insists the mood in the camp is good ahead of the weekend.

He referenced a 2-1 win over Brentford last month thanks to two injury time goals as evidence that his players are up for the fight.

‘They [players] are positive,’ he said. ‘They want to put this right and we know the standards here.

‘We have to match them every day, we’ve had two big setbacks, but we’ll fight back. The dressing room is strong, the staff are strong and this manager is strong.

‘Remember the fight we showed against Brentford, If there wasn’t spirit of characters in the dressing room, you couldn’t do this.’
