Reece James has suffered yet another injury setback after limping off in the first half of Chelsea’s visit to Everton on Sunday afternoon.

The England right-back has had to deal with a long list of injuries over his relatively short career so far, plagued by fitness issues despite only turning 24 years old earlier this week.

The game at Goodison Park was only James’ fifth Premier League start of the campaign after missing a string of matches due to a hamstring injury from August to October.

The concern for Mauricio Pochettino will be that he has reaggravated the same injury, but the nature of the problem is yet to be confirmed.

Levi Colwill replaced James midway through the first half with the game goalless and Pochettino’s injury worries mounting up.

The likes of Wesley Fofana, Ben Chilwell, Malo Gusto, Christopher Nkunku, Romeo Lavia, Trevoh Chalobah, Lesley Ugochukwu and Carney Chukwuemeka were all unavailable for the trip to Merseyside.

However, Pochettino did give positive updates on Lavia and Nkunku, who are still waiting to make their Chelsea debuts after signing for the club over the summer.

Asked if the pair are back next week, the Chelsea boss said: ‘We will see. The last step is always the most difficult thing.

Christopher Nkunku and Romeo Lavia are so close, but at the same time we had a small delay, but we hope that they can be involved soon.’
