Suella Braverman accuses police of ‘double standards’ on London pro-Palestine march – latest news
'Braverman is out of control,' said one Labour politician.
Writing in The Times yesterday, the home secretary said there is a ‘perception that senior officers play favourites when it comes to protesters’, adding that the pro-Palestine ‘mobs’ are ‘problematic’.
Another is planned for Saturday (November 11) with Rishi Sunak saying holding one on the remembrance day event would be ‘disrespectful’.
The Met has said it has no grounds to ban the protest – it can only do so under a rarely used power not employed since 2012 to ban a string of far-right protests.
Yvette Cooper, the shadow home secretary, wrote on X: ‘Suella Braverman is out of control.
‘Her article tonight is a highly irresponsible, dangerous attempt to undermine respect for police at a sensitive time.’
