Will Smith has joined the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air cast in paying tribute to the Uncle Phil star, James Avery.

The much loved actor passed away aged 65 in 2014, following complications with his heart.

And now, his former co-starts have virtually come together to remember both their colleague and friend.

During a video call, star of the show, Will was joined by the likes of Daphne Reid, Tatyana Ali, Alfonso RIbiero, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Karyn Parsons and Joseph Marcell who allwatched on as he played a video in tribute.

After the short clip came to an end, the Men In Black star wiped a tear from his eye, as he said: ‘That just makes me teary…James Avery, James Avery, James Avery.’

And it seems everyone was overcome with emotion, as Daphne, who played James’ on screen wife Aunt Viv said: ‘I loved that man.’

Will had staged the reunion with the hope to bring some joy to fans during the current coronavirus lockdown.

Celebrating 30 years of the show, the 51-year-old managed to get his pals back together again.

‘It’s a beautiful pause button for us to stop and think about what’s really necessary,’ he said in regards to the current pandemic.

‘How often do we even pop on a call and say, “Hey, how you doing?”’

Right on cue, Alfonso Ribeiro (Carlton) teased his buddy and joked: ’This is actually the first time!’

Later on in their catch-up, the Bad Boys actor continued: ‘You guys are my second family. I’ve been shaped by my interactions and relationships…

‘When I look back, the best times in my life will have been on that set.’

At the end of last year, it was rumoured Will Smith was working on a Fresh Prince spin-off, which first aired in 1990.

The Hollywood Reporter spoke about the singer’s production compay, Westbrook, and claimed: ‘In addition to producing Smith-fronted film projects, Westbrook is developing a Fresh Prince of Bel-Air spin-off series (he still earns hefty royalties from the 1990s NBC sitcom, now licensed to air in 193 territories).’

We guess only time will tell if the hit does really come into fruition.
