Manchester City star Erling Haaland reluctantly handed his shirt to Young Boys captain Mohamed Ali Camara at half-time on Tuesday in a very awkward exchange.

The incident occurred as the teams headed down the tunnel at the break with the Swiss side 2-0 down against Pep Guardiola’s European champions.

Haaland told Camara ‘you can’t do this’ but then proceeded to hand the Guinea international his shirt.

‘100 per cent not having it,’ commentator Ally McCoist said on TNT Sports. ‘That’s embarrassing.’

City went on to win the Champions League clash 3-0 with Haaland registering two goals as Guardiola’s side booked their spot in the last 16.

Speaking after the match, Young Boys boss Raphael Wicky admitted he was ‘surprised’ by Camara’s actions and would have ‘a word’ with his captain.

‘I didn’t see that, that’s news to me,’ Wicky said. ‘I’m a little bit surprised about that right now.

‘On the other hand I don’t think it has anything to do with the game, but I’ll have a word with him. Maybe Erling asked him.

‘At the end of the day I don’t think this has anything to do with the performance but I will have a word with the player.’

Haaland needs just one more goal in any of his next 10 Champions League outings to surpass Ruud van Nistelrooy’s record of scoring 40 in just 45 appearances.
