Corey La Barrie’s parents have filed a lawsuit against Daniel Silva alleging that he is responsible for the wrongful death of their son.
Simon La Barrie and Lissa Burton reportedly filed against the tattoo artist claiming he and his company, Daniel Silva Tattoos, were negligent in the hours and moments leading up to Corey’s death on his 25th birthday earlier this month.
According to TMZ, Corey’s parents claim in court documents that Silva was ‘driving at an unsafe and unreasonable speed when he was in the car with Corey’, which they say means he was ‘operating the vehicle without due care and in violation of California law’.
In addition, they go on to allege Silva was under the influence of ‘alcohol/and or other unknown substances’ at the time of the crash and that his own company provided the intoxicants.
They also say that Silva had been caught driving under the influence before and therefore should have known better. La Barrie was killed on 10 May, on his 25th birthday, when the car he was a passenger in, allegedly driven by Silva, crashed in Los Angeles.

After Silva was arrested following the incident, LA County District Attorney’s office said this week the 26-year-old TV star has been charged with second-degree murder.
If convicted as charged, Silva faces a possible maximum sentence of 15 years to life in state prison.
Speaking on Wednesday, Silva’s attorney, Mike Cavalluzzi, later broke his silence on the situation.
He told TMZ: ‘This is a horrible tragedy and our hearts go out to Corey’s family and friends.
‘We are reviewing all of the evidence and will reserve comment for a later time.
‘For now, it is most important that everyone involved is given time and space to grieve.’

News of Silva’s arrest emerged on 12 May, with LAPD confirming this in a statement, explaining a 2020 McLaren 600LT was traveling eastbound on Huston Street ‘at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control.
‘Driver then ran off the road and collided with a stop sign and a tree on the northeast corner of Huston Street and Carpenter Avenue.’
According to authorities, Silva tried to flee: ‘The driver of the McLaren exited the vehicle and attempted to leave the scene but was stopped by a citizen who came to render aid.
