David Moyes has revealed Alphonse Areola will miss West Ham’s Premier League clash against Tottenham on Tuesday due to a groin injury.

The 31-year-old was forced off at half time during West Ham’s 4-3 defeat to Newcastle United in Saturday’s early kick-off.

Lukasz Fabianski replaced Areola at St James’ Park and Moyes has confirmed that the 38-year-old will be handed his fourth Premier League start of the season for Spurs’ visit to the London Stadium on Tuesday evening.

‘Alphonse Areola has hurt his groin so at the moment it looks like he’s going to be out for a little bit,’ Moyes said on Monday afternoon.

‘We hope it’s not too serious but Lukasz Fabianski will come in.

‘Nayef Aguerd’s trained today so we’ll see how he and everyone else is before tomorrow.’

West Ham currently sit seventh in the Premier League following their loss at Newcastle and a win against Spurs would keep them in the same position but one point behind Manchester United, who will have two games in hand.

Moyes side will then play Wolves at Molineux this Saturday before the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final tie against Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen next Thursday.
