Andy Murray set for injury return at Geneva Open
He's back.
Andy Murray will make his return from injury at the Geneva Open after being awarded one of three wildcard spots in Switzerland.
The 36-year-old has been sidelined since March, when he damaged ankle ligaments in a third round defeat to Tomas Machac at the Miami Open.
There were initial fears that the injury would be severe enough to force Murray into retirement, but he allayed those fears in April.
The Scot has regularly hinted at retirement over the last 12 months but he’s determined to play again at Wimbledon and in this summer’s Olympics.
It was announced on Wednesday morning that Murray was given a wildcard for the ATP tournament in Geneva, starting on May 18th.
It would suggest Murray’s building towards playing at the French Open.
The Scot last competed at Rolland Garros in 2020, which was his first appearance in Paris since 2017.
Murray, the former world number one, is currently ranked 77th in the world.
