People are being paid £1,100 a month to dress up as a ‘monkey king’ while being fed bananas by tourists.

Workers can enjoy relaxing in a heated cave, lying down in a hammock and accept gifts from visitors at the Taihang Wuzhishan Scenic Area in China.

They play Chinese myth Sun Wukong, who is the protagonist of Chinese classic novel Journey To The West.

The monkey was trapped in the rocks of the Wuzhishan mountains by gods and greedily eats food offerings – which the actors can take home.

Operators are now looking for a third person to join their staff roster, but the job is not all luxurious, as a clip of a child shoving a banana one of the actor’s mouths circulated online.

The job listing quickly went viral, prompting the attraction to announce free entry to visitors from January 8 to February 8.

Thankfully, there are no academic qualifications required, but workers must remain cheerful.

‘There are no academic requirements. Mainly he must have a fondness for Sun Wukong, a certain level of acting talent, and a lively, cheerful and friendly disposition to interact with tourists,’ a manager at the site told Shangyou News.
