Jadon Sancho’s stance on returning to Manchester United revealed
He's open to a return if Erik ten Hag is sacked.
Jadon Sancho’s stance on potentially making a return to Manchester United has been revealed, with the Englishman out on loan at Borussia Dortmund.
Sancho headed back to Dortmund for a second stint in the January transfer window after a massive, public fall-out with United manager Erik ten Hag.
It all kicked off when Ten Hag publicly said that Sancho’s performance levels in training were not up to scratch.
Sancho was left furious and hit back at the Dutchman, insisting the claims were ‘untrue’ and that he was being made a ‘scapegoat’ for the team’s struggles.
That saw the winger completely frozen out at Old Trafford, banned from all first-team facilities, including the dining room, before joining Dortmund on loan.
It is now being reported by iNews that Sancho could still resurrect his United career – but only if Ten Hag is sacked as manager at the end of the season.
United’s players believe Ten Hag has already accepted his fate and it has been heavily reported that former Chelsea boss Graham Potter could replace him.
Jason Wilcox, who will soon arrive as United’s new technical director from Southampton, is believed to be keen to give Sancho a second chance.
Sancho and Wilcox have a strong relationship after the latter gave the United star his youth-team debut when he was working in Manchester City’s academy.
Wilcox is expected to become a key part of United’s new era under Sir Jim Ratcliffe and will work under incoming sporting director Dan Ashworth.
Meanwhile, former United striker Andy Cole was recently quizzed about Sancho’s future and said: ‘Whether he does or doesn’t stay at Manchester United in the long-term, the kid is still a very talented player.
‘You can all sit here and say he’s got to get his head right, but I think everyone needs to get their head and mindset right at times. It’s not worked out for him at the moment at Manchester United, but you just never know what’s going to happen.
‘I listened to Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s comments the other day regarding Mason Greenwood and how a decision regarding his future will be made in the summer, so it looks like they’re going to go back to that situation and review it, so I believe that Sancho will be in that discussion as well.’
