Jamie Carragher accused Cody Gakpo of playing in ‘slow motion’ during the 4-3 defeat to Manchester United and says Liverpool’s attack was ‘very poor’.

The Liverpool legend was far from happy as his former side crashed out of the FA Cup quarter-finals on Sunday in dramatic fashion to Erik ten Hag’s side.

Carragher also goaded United after the match, insisting Manchester City will beat them again in the final if the Red Devils get past Coventry City in the last four.

United lost the FA Cup final to their Manchester rivals last season and they could be set for a repeat of the 2023 showpiece if Pep Guardiola’s men beat Chelsea.

Replying to a tweet from United legend Rio Ferdinand celebrating his old club getting to Wembley, Carragher posted: ‘Relax [laughing emoji].

‘Man City will beat you comfortably in the final & [Erik ten Hag] will still be in charge next season. It’s not the win you think it is!!’

Prior to that, he was critical of Liverpool’s performance and said: ‘Gakpo plays like the game is in slow motion.

‘Unbelievable game & it’s a great result for Man United but Liverpool only have themselves to blame.

‘Scored three & still the attacking players were all very poor. Can’t complain too much as they’ve been amazing all season.’

Meanwhile, United legend Roy Keane felt that Liverpool were ‘sloppy’ in their defeat to Ten Hag’s side.
