Highly-rated young Manchester United star Amad Diallo is back in full training after recovering from a lengthy injury, the club has confirmed.

Diallo picked up a serious knee injury in July and only returned to training on grass at the end of October.

The Ivory Coast forward was tipped to have a big season in 2023/24, either with the Red Devils or on loan at another Premier League club, with the likes of Everton, West Ham and Burnley interested in his services.

The 21-year-old scored 14 goals and made four assists during a brilliant loan spell at Sunderland last season, helping the Black Cats reach the Championship play-offs.

And while the injury has hampered his development, he could still have a huge impact for United, with the club announcing on Thursday: ‘Amad has returned to full training with the first-team squad, as he gets back to fitness after a knee injury.’

The Red Devils still have many injuries to deal with as they issued some early team news ahead of Saturday’s clash against Bournemouth.

‘Raphael Varane was not named in the matchday squad on Wednesday [the 2-1 home win over Chelsea] due to a sore back.

‘The likes of Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia, Casemiro, Mason Mount and Christian Eriksen have been on the sidelines.’

Diallo will be hoping to have a similar impact to that of fellow United youngster Kobbie Mainoo who has played very well since coming into the team last month following a lengthy injury.

United’s forwards have been in woeful form this season, with Rasmus Hojlund, Marcus Rashford, Antony, Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho, Anthony Martial and Facundo Pellistri recording just four goals and five assists in the league between them.

Despite that, they go into the Bournemouth clash in sixth in the table, level on points with Tottenham in fifth and only three behind rivals Manchester City in fourth.
