Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson feels England and West Ham star Jarrod Bowen could be the man to replace Mohamed Salah in the summer window.

While Lawrenson has acknowledged that it will be almost impossible to find a -like-for-like replacement, he says Bowen is ‘very much a possibility’ for the Reds, given that his old club will likely prioritise transfer funds for a new centre-back.

Lawrenson rates Bowen for his versality, goalscoring agility and hard-working attitude – traits which have earned him seven caps for the Three Lions thus far.

Bowen has been in fine form for West Ham this season, conjuring up 14 goals and three assists across 28 Premier League games.

Salah, meanwhile, has strongly been linked with the Saudi Pro League and former Premier League striker Mido claims the Egyptian has already agreed a move.

Should that be the case, Liverpool will have a spot to fill and Lawrenson thinks Bowen may go to Anfield at the end of the season.

‘Jarrod Bowen to Liverpool is very much a possibility,’ Lawrenson told Paddy Power.

‘He can play in all three positions across the front line, gets you goals and work hard. You’re not going to get another Mo Salah.

‘The other thing he gives you is that he works extremely hard defensively – he wasn’t great at it when he joined but he’s improved on it. Anyone could join, but I think he will leave – no doubt about that whatsoever.

‘As for who replaces him, I’m not sure how much money Liverpool will have. They need another centre-back, and that might be their first priority. It’s not just a matter of who replaces Salah for me.’
