The Duchess of Sussex has launched a new business venture with a swanky video on Instagram.

Meghan Markle’s new brand, American Riviera Orchard, has been kicked off this evening with a clip of her cooking in a stunning rustic kitchen, while a woman’s hands are seen arranging pink and white flowers.

Nine pictures shared on the new Instagram profile’s grid make up up the brand’s logo alongside the name ‘American Riviera Orchard Montecito’.

The biography of the Instagram page says the brand is ‘by Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex’.

An insider told Page Six Style that the brand will work as an extension of her former lifestyle blog The Tig.

The American Riviera Orchard launch is said to coincide with the launch of a new cookery show featuring Meghan for Netflix – where she will be making and selling her own products.

A source said: ‘She’s been working on this for over a year and it’s all the things that are close to her heart — all the things she’s passionate about.’

The brand is set to focus on home, garden, food and general lifestyle wares.

A trademark application obtained by Page Six Style reveals American Riviera Orchard will sell a wide range of home goods, including edible treats like jellies, jams and spreads and tableware staples such as cutlery, table linens and drinkware. Cookbooks are also covered.

The brand’s website currently has very little available – just a picture of the logo and an option to sign up to a ‘waitlist’.

The news comes two days after a defamation case, brought against Meghan by her half-sister Samantha, was dismissed in court.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have remained quiet amid conspiracy theories about Kate Middleton’s whereabouts and the edited photograph shared on Mother’s Day.

Last week they sung ‘happy birthday’ and gave cake to the family of a teacher killed in a school shooting.
