Romeo Lavia has told Chelsea fans ‘the wait will be worth it’ following his latest injury setback.

The 20-year-old has made just one appearance for Chelsea since his £53 million move from Southampton last August.

But the midfielder suffered an injury during his 32-minute cameo against Crystal Palace in December and now faces an extended spell on the sidelines.

‘Received a lot of support messages and I wanted to let you know that it means a lot to me,’ Lavia posted on X.

‘I’m gutted not to be able to help the team, but I’m fully focused on coming back.

‘The wait will be worth it…’

Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League clash against Crystal Palace on Monday evening, Pochettino insisted that Lavia would not return before his side’s Carabao Cup final against Liverpool on February 25.

‘No. He is not training with the team. He is still recovering,’ Pochettino said.

‘But no, no, impossible. Still not on the pitch.
