Destiny Udogie is set to be rewarded with a new contract and a pay rise after his fine start to the season at Tottenham.

The full-back was signed from Udinese for £15million in 2022 but was sent back on loan to the Serie A club last season.

Udogie returned to Tottenham this season and has since become a lynchpin of Ange Postecoglou’s side.

The Italian scored his first goal for the club in their convincing 4-1 win over Newcastle at the weekend, which saw them end a five-match winless run.

And now, fresh from that win, reports from Fabrizio Romano suggest that the 21-year-old is set to be rewarded with a new contract from the club.

Udogie’s initial contract ran until the end of the 2026/27 season but that is set to be extended, with the Italian also set to be offered a pay rise for his consistent performances this season.

The new contract is said to be already agreed and in place, with an announcement expected in the coming days.

The Spurs defender has been almost ever-present this season, starting 14 of the club’s 16 league games and scoring his side’s first goal on Sunday.

A brace from Richarlison and a penalty from captain Son Heung-Min saw Spurs romped to a 4-1 win over Newcastle and move back within three points of the top four.

They next face a trip to Nottingham Forest on Friday as they look for back-to-back wins for the first time since October.
