Ashley Cole is set to be joined by two more football legends in the Premier League Hall of Fame after the latest list of nominees was revealed.

On Monday, the Premier League announced that former Arsenal and Chelsea defender Cole had become the latest player to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, which was created in 2021.

Widely considered one of, if not the best left-back in the competition’s history, the former England international said: ‘I’m honoured to join the Premier League Hall of Fame. It’s humbling and fulfilling to be rewarded at the end of your career.’

Fans are now able to vote on the next two icons to be inducted from a shortlist of 15 names, with the winners to be revealed on 22 April.

The nominees include Cole’s former Arsenal and Chelsea teammate Cesc Fabregas as well as other Gunners and Blues legends Sol Campbell, Eden Hazard and John Terry.

Manchester United are well represented through Michael Carrick, Andrew Cole, Gary Neville, Edwin van der Sar and Nemanja Vidic, as are Manchester City thanks to David Silva and Yaya Toure.

Prolific strikers Jermain Defoe, Les Ferdinand, Robbie Fowler and Michael Owen complete the list.

Cole won three Premier League titles, two with Arsenal and one with Chelsea, making 385 top-flight appearances, keeping 147 clean sheets, scoring 15 goals and making 31 assists.

He also won seven FA Cups, the League Cup, the Champions League and the Europa League and was also part of the Arsenal ‘Invincibles’ that won the title without losing a single game.
